Who is Deandre Williams?

Remember the protests in Lakes at Barony Place in April? How could you forget?

The State newspaper reports today that Sgt. Pentland is being transferred from Fort Jackson to his next permanent duty station. As a result of unfair and uneven reporting of this news, I shall cancel my subscription to The State. Here's the article, if you care to read  it:   https://www.thestate.com/news/local/military/article253972593.html

Now who is Deandre Williams, the man whom Pentland confronted? Little has been written about him. Today I found this article:   https://conandaily.com/2021/08/24/deandre-williams-biography-13-things-about-northeast-columbia-south-carolina-man/

Read it for the details that should have been included in articles published by The State.

Remember that 150 protestors (99% of them black) showed up and mobbed the street on April 14. Remember that the sheriff's department refused to clear the street so that emergency vehicles could have gotten through. Three deputies stood in the shade on the corner of Barony Place Drive and Timber Crest Drive and did not respond to two direct requests to open up the street. They told me they were making their "game plan". I asked them when Game Day was...

Remember that black community leaders and Sheriff Lott had a meeting. The conclusion, as related to me by a person who was there, was that it was NOT a racially-inspired incident. Yet the black activists and protesters certainly made it into one.

Had I been Pentland, I would have sought a pre-trial diversion. Hopefully, he knew about that option. Maybe the hammer hanging over his head as a member of the military had something to do with going to trial. My opinion was there was not a snowball's chance on a 100ยบ F. South Carolina day that a trial verdict would be other then Guilty. But the maximum fine of $500 was excessive, especially when $587 of court costs and fees were added to it.

I disagreed strongly with the decision of The Summit HOA Board to publish any statement on the HOA website. That was a knee-jerk reaction. That was wrong. What happened had nothing to do with The Summit.

Message to the Pentlands: Good luck

Message to Williams: Keep your hands to yourself.
