Eureka!!! May 2022 Summit Scoop Posted Online

The Summit Scoop for May 2022 has already been posted online! Can you believe it?

Rather than telephoning the office this morning for the location of tonight's board meeting, I checked for the Scoop on the HOA's website. It's there!!! Imagine that!

According to the May Scoop, now available online, the board will meet tonight, Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 6:30PM at the North Springs Community Center. Just in case you don't know where that is, the address is 1320 Clemson Road. (The correct name is North Springs Park Community Center.) It is west of Summit Parkway, and immediately west of North Springs Elementary School.

On Page 1 of the May Scoop is an announcement that The Scoop is going paperless, effective with the June issue. Be sure your email address is on file with the office. Apparently, the plan is to email The Scoop and deliver it electronically to residents [sic]. NOTE: the announcement does state residents.

It might be advisable to call the office at 803.865.0609 to confirm that the board will meet tonight. I did call, but the phone was answered by voicemail  Let's see how quickly my call is returned.

[EDITED (5:05PM)] No return call from the HOA office about tonight's meeting, and no response to my email to HOA Manager Angela Adelman about tonight's meeting. See you at the North Springs Park Community Center at 6:30PM.

Barony Place Neighborhood (Barony Place I and Barony Place II attempted to hold a Neighborhood Meeting this afternoon. Of the 78 homes, seventeen (17) homes were represented, and that was not sufficient to meet the quorum requirement of 26. Open Letter to Barony Place "Voting Member"

An open letter to the "Voting Member" of Barony Place Neighborhood. Good morning, Billie, If you and/or an Alternate attended last night's board of directors meeting, will you please send out a recap of the meeting to Ann Stirlen and me (and to all the homeowners and residents in Barony Place)? About a dozen homeowners from throughout The Summit showed up for the board meeting  at the church  last night, only to learn from one person that it had been switched to Zoom, which allowed the board to meet in secret. Many of them had not received the email from the office that the board was (illegitimately) closing the meeting to homeowners. There are only about 1,800 (73%) email addresses of the 2,480 Members in the website database. Special Assessment Possible?

How would you feel about a $3,000 Special Assessment levied by the HOA against you and every other HOA Member (homeowner)? Article X, Section 4 in the CC&Rs allows this. Are you aware of that? Should the Board do everything possible to eliminate the possibility of such a Special Assessment? What is the Board doing that might just lead directly to such an Assessment? The HOA, by actions of the President (Justin Martin), the Treasurer (Vernell Butler, and the Safety Committee Chair (Dennis Rybicki) entered into a contact with the Richland County Sheriff's Department, effective February 1, 2023.
