February Scoop - Brilliant Planning (Not)

Why does the Summit HOA continue to waste money publishing The Summit Scoop?

Look at the February 2022 edition carefully.

First, you'll notice it is now only four pages. That's one 11"x17" sheet of paper, folded in half.

The February issue was delivered in Barony Place II on February 23rd. You'll be glad to know that the February board meeting was three weeks before, on February 1st. And the Senior Luncheon WAS on February 16th. That's at least three months now, when the Scoop has been delivered after the Luncheon.

I have suggested for over a year that the Board should take control of publication of the Scoop and appoint a homeowner or Board member to manage the Scoop. CAMS appears unable to comply with the Board's previous announcement that publication should be much, much earlier in the month.

The Scoop is basically worthless as it exists. I wonder if 2% of the 2,500 homeowners read it. It may not even be delivered in neighborhoods that do not have newspaper boxes underneath the mailboxes. What percentage of households don't even get the Scoop?

There is now only one ½-page ad in the February Scoop. One Realtor (only one) now pays to advertise. Did the rest of them decide they were wasting their money?

Committee and Voting Member information is on the website, and readers could be pointed there in a short notice in the Scoop. The Calendar on the website could be kept up-to-date on the website.

Homeowners shsould not have to ask to attend monthly meetings. They are Members of the HOA. They have the right to attend. They shouldn't have to ask for the Zoom link. The Zoom meeting information should be given freely to all.

And why are only Homeowners (and not Residents) allowed to attend? Does the Board want all residents to take pride in living in the Summit?

The reason that only Homeowners are allowed to attend meetings is because Justin and the late George Reynolds decided that they did not want Gus Philpott (a resident) to attend monthly meetings. They falsely accused me of being disruptive. What they didn't like was my asking pesky questions, like my question today - where is the 2022 Budget? It's February 25th already! EVERY Board member should be demanding an answer to that question!

Is anyone evaluating the cost/benefit ratio of having garage sales? I heard grumblings last time that advertising was late and that area signs should have been put out sooner. Why have it, if it is not promoted well?
