Board Minutes Posted - a Great Improvement

Late this past week the Minutes for three recent Board Meetings were posted. Minutes for the Board Meetings on November 18, December 2, and January 6 were posted on The Summit HOA website.

To find these, go to www.summithomeowners.com; then hover over RESIDENTS and click on DOCUMENTS; click on Board of Director's Minutes; click on the month/year to review.

I read the January 6th Minutes first. After reading them, I thought, "These are the best Minutes I've read in eight years!"

A few questions came to mind, and I'll be seeking information for clarification. The Minutes reflect the intention of the Board to inform Members and residents of what is going on in The Summit.

The November 18th Minutes were informative but failed to mention the election of four directors at the Annual Meeting of Voting Members, which had been held just before the Board Meeting. The Minutes also failed to state which Board Members were present and which were absent. There was no mention as to whether officers were elected.

The Community Manager Report included, "Parking on the street remains a major concern." Why? What kind of major concern could it be? The HOA has no authority over the County-owned roadways.

In the December 2nd Minutes, the Voting Members are mentioned. One slight error is that the Voting Members are not a "committee" of the Association. An unnamed individual attended several Voting Member meetings without being an "authorized" Voting Member or Alternate. I know who he is. He was an Alternate until he was elected to the Board in November 2020. When he abruptly resigned from the Board three years later, he did not become a Voting Member or Alternate through the process defined in the By-Laws.

A homeowner requested financial information related to "legal invoices, reserve fund transfers, and other expenditures." The Minutes did not identify that homeowner. Those are excellent questions.

These three sets of Minutes are much more informative than any Minutes in the past. They are a great improvement!
