Is the HOA Board (majority) now Racist?

The Board just removed a long-time HOA resident and Member from all committees of the HOA. An email from the Board Secretary, Angelo Turley-Moore informed the Member that he has been removed from all committees. No reason was given.

Recently the Board majority (Tanisha Holmes, William Hill, Noel Weatherbee, and Angelo Turley-Moore (all black)) reportedly voted to remove Brenda Bryant (white) as Board President. Weatherbee succeeded Brenda as Board President.

It also removed Linda Potter (white) as Board Treasurer and replaced her with Tanisha Holmes.

Earlier in the year the Board majority removed Jeff Lummel (white) as Board Vice-President and replaced him with Weatherbee.

On Thursday the letter from the Board Secretary informed the Member, Mike Bryant (white), that the Board had removed him from all committees. 

Why would the black majority on the Board be making these changes? How are those changes in the best interests of the Association?

Boards have the authority to make such changes when they are warranted and if the right procedures are followed. Were those changes made in the proper manner?

If the changes were made at Regular or Special Board Meetings and documented in Minutes  published to Members, they may be proper, if good reasons existed.

The Annual Election of Directors is to occur in November. The terms of Holmes, Hill, and Weatherbee (all black) expire in November.

Voting Members should give all three the boot. Not because they are black, but because they are not acting in the best interests of the Association.

Will the Annual Meeting of Voting Members be held on November 3, 2026? Or postponed until November 10th, since November 3 is an off-year election day? Is there an attempt to cancel this year's election?

When is the November Board Meeting? For the first time in many years, the (September) Summit Scoop failed to include future Board Meeting dates! Was that intentional? Of course! Someone made that decision to leave out future meeting dates. Who did that?

M.H.G.A. - Make HOA Great Again!

Homeowners and Residents in The Summit can look forward to positive changes in how the HOA is run.  It's my feeling that homeowners (Members) and Residents will experience a new era of Respect that hasn't been here for a long time.  Allow your new Board a "honeymoon" period. The new leadership of the Association (meaning the officers on the Board of Directors) will be hard at work to get a handle on everything that is wrong and to begin fixing it. It won't happen overnight. Be sure to welcome Brenda Bryant, Jeff Lummel, Linda Potter, and Angelo Turley-Moore to their new roles as President, Vice-President, Treasurer,  and Secretary, respectively. About Fines in The Summit's HOA

Do you bother to inspect the Budget when it is proposed for the following year? Do you ever examine the monthly financial reports of the HOA? How much do you think the HOA will collect in fines this year? How much do you think the HOA collected in Fines last year? The Line in the Budget that you'll want to look at is Line 4600 Fines - Violations. Sitting down? In 2024 the HOA collected $57,446.91 in Fines. The amount budgeted in 2024 was $20,000. In 2025 the HOA expects to collect $50,000. As of June 30, 2025 the HOA has collected $38,670. At this pace the HOA will collect $77,340 in the full year, or $27,340 (55%) more than estimated in the Budget. Why are fines running so high? Should the Board just grin and rub their hands together in glee, or should the Board create an ad hoc Committee to examine the Fines category and determine what can be done to reduce the penalties on its Members?
