So Easy to Over-Spend

At last night's Board Meeting, the Treasurer made a motion for the HOA to spend $52,579.70 on monitors for the two pools in the HOA.

One problem? The 2026 Proposed Budget, as published on the HOA's website, allocates only $48,000 for Pool Monitors (Line 6007).

The 2026 Proposed Budget is so "tight" that it won't even squeak. There is no "extra" money. There was no discussion about where the additional $4,579.70 will come from?

Another problem is the $40,000+ paid to Johnson Controls for the pool fob system that was supposed to eliminate the need for pool monitors.

Is a pool monitor a lifeguard or just the gate-keeper?

Is there a problem with unauthorized entrance or use of the pools that is worth $52,579.70? Was there any discussion about that? Certainly, not last night, before they voted to spend the money.

Why not post "No Lifeguards. Swim at your own risk" signs? If miscreants crash the gate or the fence, a homeowner can call the office. Office staff can respond and call RCSD, if necessary, to have trespassers arrested.

Did anyone even check the Budget? (There is no record in Board Minutes that the Board ever approved the 2026 Proposed Budget. Did it?)
