Anyone understand this graph?

For the past three months, a graph has shown up as part of the monthly financial reporting. The first thought of anyone looking at it ought to be "WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?"

In the legend, one line on the graph is for Operating Cash. A second line is for "Net Cash". But no second line is on the graph. 

The graph is enough to give any observant person a heart attack. Why is the cash varying so greatly? Why was Operating Cash so low ($200,000) in June, July, August 2022? Why did it go down to less than $100,000 (October 2022)? Why did it increase so sharply in May 2023?


To find the answers, I went back to the end-of-month Total Operating Cash balances, as shown on monthly financial statements. I did not find the basis for the numbers on the graph. Can you?

Let's look at the history over the past year. Here are the end-of-month totals for Operating Cash. Compare them with the graph.

* In April 2023 why was "Reconciled Operating Cash" (on the graph with that month's financials) more than $400,000 less than the Operating Cash?

** For May and June the Reconciled Operating Cash and the Operating Cash were the same.

I thought I heard Vernell Butler, the HOA's Treasurer, answer a question at the August 7th board meeting with "It's hard for an ordinary person to understand" or something to that effect. He was responding to a question from a Finance Committee member.

Whose bright idea was that graph? Where did those numbers on the graph come from?

Does anyone on the Finance Committee understand what's going on? Anyone on the Board? Justin? Greg? Mary Ann? Dennis? Brenda? Tanisha? Vernell? Does Angela understand any of it?

Open Letter to Barony Place "Voting Member"

An open letter to the "Voting Member" of Barony Place Neighborhood. Good morning, Billie, If you and/or an Alternate attended last night's board of directors meeting, will you please send out a recap of the meeting to Ann Stirlen and me (and to all the homeowners and residents in Barony Place)? About a dozen homeowners from throughout The Summit showed up for the board meeting  at the church  last night, only to learn from one person that it had been switched to Zoom, which allowed the board to meet in secret. Many of them had not received the email from the office that the board was (illegitimately) closing the meeting to homeowners. There are only about 1,800 (73%) email addresses of the 2,480 Members in the website database. Pet Peeve #1 - Tinted License Plate Covers

  AO(Q?)H 152 My #1 pet peeve is heavily-tinted license plate covers. These are prohibited under South Carolina law (and by laws in many states), but my belief is that these drivers are seldom stopped.  These drivers can run red lights, speed, tailgate, even cause hit-and-run accidents, and witnesses can only say, "I couldn't see the license plate number." My solution? Troopers, deputies, and cops should stop these cars. Ticket the driver. Remove the license plate frame, tinted cover, and license plate as evidence. This will force the driver to have his car towed, because he cannot operate a motor vehicle on the roads without a license plate. Make it inconvenient and expensive. Drivers KNOW they are violating the law. They expect to get away with it, and they do. It's time for this to stop! Pet peeve #2: heavily-tinted front windows.
