Robbery?

"Thank you to our neighbors who thought it not robbery to take the time out of their busy schedules to volunteer for service to the community.  Thanks for your support and encouragement."

Those words were the final paragraph in the President's Report in the September 2025 edition of The Summit Scoop. Did you read them there?

What do they mean? What does "robbery" mean?

Is Danny Trapp thanking the Board members for their time? Or is he thanking committee members for their time?

When a homeowner participates in an organization such a homeowners' association for his own home, is the word "robbery" even in the first thousand words he'd use to describe his involvement?

Who says it is "support and encouragement"? Is Danny thanking them for supporting him or supporting the Association?

If he means "support", has he been listening at meetings? When homeowners or committee members ask questions about procedures and expenditures, they want answers. What "encouragement" has ever been offered?

But it looks great on paper, doesn't it? Especially if you don't think about it or wonder what it means.

Toward the end of 2024 the Finance Committee devoted considerable time to building a responsible budget for 2025. It included the need for a 10% increase in the Assessment. That recommendation got squashed in a private, closed, pre-board meeting (workshop) before the November 12, 2024 Regular Board Meeting. The Finance Committee had to re-work the proposed budget, reducing expenses on paper to meet the expected revenue.

At the November 12, 2024 Board Meeting, all that was said was "We have a budget." The proposed 2025 budget was not discussed before it was approved. Two newly-elected board members approved it without ever examining it. No board member asked questions.

Is that what "support" looks like? For whom?

Seven board members are expected to represent the 2,480 Members of the Association, not be a rubber stamp for the Board President. Will it be different after the election in November?
