Is the HOA Being Fair?

You decide. Is the HOA being fair?

A few months ago a friend in a different neighborhood in the HOA told me that he thought the HOA owed me "something" because it was suing me.

In January 2025 a lawyer told me that he'd charge me $30-$50,000 to represent me all the way through. That's why I had to represent myself.  And I did. Pretty well, too.

In November Danny was out and a "new" board was in. They wanted to drop the lawsuit. They didn't want to throw good money after bad.

They offered me $5.00 and a ton on conditions. I countered with $100,000. They caved. We agreed to the dismissal with no conditions. The case was dismissed on January 13, 2026.

My position was that we didn't need to go through protracted (expensive for the HOA) negotiations. My view was, "If they are fair with me, I'll be fair with them."

Then I asked for a meeting with the Board. And they refused.

Is it "fair" for them to refuse to even talk with me now?

I'm not going to ask a second time. I don't beg.

Should they begin to worry about being sued?

I was defamed and maligned by the false accusations in the lawsuit. I spent money and time to be "my own lawyer". I saved them a lot of money on trial preparation and court time.

Why am I writing this?

If this is how they treat me, how are they treating you? Are they being fair with you?
