What's Up With This Gate?
As Lakes at Barony Place was being finished, the fence along Summit Parkway was installed. The Board of Directors should have insisted on fencing to match the rest of the HOA, but it let the builder prevail.
Because it would be a long way around (via Timber Crest Drive and Barony Place Drive) for fire trucks to get to the houses on Rainey Court and Lakemont Drive, a gate was placed in the fence. The key to the heavy-duty Master lock must have been provided to the fire department.
At the time I wondered what kind of deal was made with the property owner there to allow fire department access across his property.
Part of the answer now exists in the Minutes of the November 18, 2025 Board Meeting. Under Residents' Concerns is this entry:
"Clarification on the emergency gate on Rainey Court [emphasis in the original], which management will investigate."
This item should have been addressed at the Board Meeting on December 2, 2025 or January 6, 2026 under Old Business. Nary a word was said.
The signs identifying the gate as an "emergency gate" have been removed from the gate and are on the ground.
Did the homeowner whose property was infringed upon take issue with the Association?. Was the issue ever raised before the November 18th Board Meeting? What are the findings of the "management"?
