How It Really Is
I laughed, when I saw this. It perfectly describes my relationship with the Summit's HOA.
For some strange reason, past board members, some current board members, and some of the CAMS office staff can't seem to understand important sections of the Governing Documents of the HOA; i.e., the CC&Rs, the By-Laws, and the Procedures Reference Manual (PRM).
For me those sections are pretty simple. You read the words, and that's what the sections mean.
One example pertains to how Voting Members are selected. Another is who gets to vote for directors each year. Another is about when officers are elected after an election of directors. Another is that the Budget is to be balanced (no deficits). Another is the required set-aside for Reserves in the Annual Budget. Another is when the Annual Audit is to be distributed to Members (homeowners).
The rulebook for setting disputes? The Governing Documents.
I was wrong one time. I relied on one section of the CC&Rs, but there was a second section that said something else. No one on the board mentioned that second section for over a year. When I learned of it, I apologized.
I've lost track of the number of times that different members of the board (past and current) have been wrong. But who's counting?
