Do you care about your HOA?

Or only care if your dues check is deposited on-time by July 31? Or if your dues don't go up as much as they should on January 1, 2026?

Please join HRLNG (HOA Reform Leaders National Group) on Facebook. There is no fee.

Then join the South Carolina group of HRLNG.

Be willing to contact South Carolina legislators and help persuade them to write new Bills and vote to pass new laws that will protect you, the homeowner in a HOA.

Don't contact them yet. Legislators will be more likely to act, if they hear from a large group in a short period of time. Consider which is more effective: one message a week for two years, or 104 messages on a Monday morning before noon?

Let's coordinate activity so that it has the greatest effect.

The Summit's HOA could do a whole lot better. Many of the Voting Members are now upset, although you aren't hearing about it. It would be nice if every Voting Member issued periodic communications with the homeowners in their own neighborhoods.

Do you know that Barony Place has the only legitimate* Voting Member in the HOA?. The only one out of 28 neighborhoods!

It's looking more and more like court action is going to be required to get the Board of Directors to comply with the CC&Rs and the By-Laws. And with the Procedures Reference Manual (PRM), which sets out specific instructions for budget preparations, election preparation, bad-debt write-offs, etc.

Ask your Board Members why the HOA and they are not complying with the Governing Documents.

* "legitimate" means duly-elected in a Neighborhood Meeting within the past 12 months (or so).

Please forward this blogpost to as many homeowners in The Summit as you can. Ask them to follow the Board closely and to attend monthly board meetings. The HOA is your HOA, not the Board's; not the President's.
