July 2025 Board Minutes Posted

The Minutes of the July 1, 2025 Board of Directors Meeting have been posted on the website. Who do you suppose wrote them?

For them to be posted on the HOA's website, they must have been distributed to the Board members for review, and then any corrections should have been made before they were posted for Members to read.

I especially liked the report of the Activity Committee about the Father-Son Bowling Day.  "... a nice time was had by all that attended." Since at least 1986 I've said that phrase had to originate in a high school newsletter!

The Covenants Committee reported that changes in the governing documents will need to be reviewed by an attorney.

The first thing that needs to happen is that the Board needs to review and agree on the proposed changes! How long have they had the proposed changes? Months? More than a year?

After the Board received the proposed changes, apparently they were given to the ad hoc Committee. Who is on that committee? Anyone besides Danny? That committee is not listed in The Summit Scoop or on the website.

Who were the Members (homeowners) who contributed ideas to any changes? Any, other than on the Covenants Committee?

Before they go to the attorney, the Board should discuss them in public at a monthly Board meeting. Then the board should vote on sending them to the attorney.

What changes are really needed?

Before they are sent to the attorney, the Board should get an estimate of the legal fees involved in a review. Will it be 20 hours at $500/hour? $10,000 to review the proposed changes? Where will that money come from? It's certainly not in the 2025 Budget.

In the Finance Report, there were six motions to spend money. To spend a LOT of money. To spend $38,561,75. Was that money already in the 2025 Budget, or is that $38,561.75 all new spending? If it's new spending, where will the money come from?

The largest money item was $31,479 for more security cameras at two parks and along two major  roadways. Why is the HOA putting cameras on Summit Parkway and Summit Ridge Drive?

Potter, Pollin, Trapp, Weatherbee, and Holmes voted for the cameras. Bryant voted against. No vote is recorded for William Hill (Treasurer). Why not? Did he vote?

The report of the (HOAs) Neighborhood Committee leads off with "There are four neighborhoods in need of a Voting Member: Indigo Springs, Waverly Place, and Pineclave."

How many is that? Four? or Three? What happened to Autumn Glen? Does it have a Voting Member now? Not according to the HOA's website. Not according to the July Minutes. Did all seven of the board members actually read these Minutes?

Now for the Huge Error. See the next blogpost.
