Should Someone Say Thanks?
About two hours before yesterday's Board of Directors meeting, I received a phone call from a deputy at the sheriff's department. Fortunately, I answer calls from unfamiliar phone numbers, and I don't panic when a deputy calls me.
The caller was the Assistant CAT officer, and he was calling about the board meeting. He said he'd be late and just wanted to let us know. The regular CAT officer was ill, and he thought the board meeting was at the church!
I explained it was on Zoom and gave him the MeetingID and Passcode. A few minutes later I realized he might call from his phone, and I called to give him the telephone call-in details.
Then I sent an email to Justin, Angela, and Dennis, letting them know that the deputy would join the meeting after it started and providing his phone number so that they would recognize it and admit him to the meeting.
Now, I thought that Justin, Angela or Dennis might appreciate what I had done and might even possible say "Thanks". What a small courtesy that would have been. But that was expecting too much!
My guess was that the CAT officer probably had tried to reach the office. There are frequent complaints that the office phone is not answered and that calls go to voicemail.
Did anyone show up at the church yesterday at 6:30PM, thinking the meeting was there, as announced in the September Scoop?
