CAT Deputy Gillespie. Who's Paying Attention?
The Richland County Sheriff's Department assigns a Community Action Team (CAT) deputy to The Summit's HOA. She attends monthly board meetings.
Her phone number is listed in The Summit Scoop, but she is NOT the Association's deputy. At one Board meeting I suggested the CAT deputy's phone number and email address should not be listed in The Scoop. Only two people connected to the HOA should be able to direct her; the Safety Committee chair and the Property Manager.
Publicizing her phone number places an undue burden on the deputy and puts her at the beck-and-call of homeowners. It could interfere with her performance of her duties. It could also slow response time; e.g., if she is off-duty or engaged in another service call.
Calls for service should go to RCSD. The sheriff was at that meeting and said he did not object to such publication of her contact details.
Who is the current CAT deputy?
According to The Scoop, she is Tyonna Gillepsie.
According to Minutes of Board meetings, she is Deputy Gillispie.
According to the RCSD website, she is Tyonna Gillespie.
I reported the typo in her name to the Summit's office many months ago, but no correction was ever made.
