Why Are Board Members Using the Cops?
Three times now, a board member has used the cops.
I wanted to go to Magistrate's Court on Thursday, September 18, to observe a trial, but I had a time-conflict. A board member had filed a complaint against a Voting Member. I heard that case got tossed by the judge. If I get the details, they'll be here.
If I were the Voting Member, I'd be asking RCSD to investigate whether the complainant had filed a false police report.
After the September 2nd Board Meeting, one of the new board members (not a legitimate director, because the appointment process was faulty) sicced the cops on a person (a Voting Member) who had been at the meeting. That went nowhere. But a report must have been filed, and a deputy showed up at the homeowner's door.
I had a personal experience with Vernell Butler, former director and prior Treasurer.
On July 14, 2022 I arrived at a board meeting at the same time as Vernell. At the outside door to the church, Vernell blocked my path and said, "You're not coming in."
After he entered, I proceeded to the meeting room door. He blocked me again and told me that, if I tried to enter, he'd get the deputies to keep me out. Two deputies were seated across the room and I told him, "They are right over there."
Vernell went to them and the three came back to the doorway. Vernell said he didn't want me in the meeting and to send me away. The deputies told him they weren't going to do that. So I entered and attended the entire meeting.
When a person doesn't cause a problem, it is wrong to request law enforcement to get involved. A responsible board of directors would sanction any officer or director who did that. However, the composition of the Board is now 5-2, and they do what they want without fear of penalty.
Vernell has announced (not officially) that he wants to be back on the Board and to be Treasurer again. If that happens, the Voting Members should remove him.
