What To Do When You Screw Up
I've long remembered a story about a hospital in Florida. As I recall the news story, a young boy had died in the OR after anesthesia lines were improperly connected.
Did the hospital attempt to cover up its mistake?
The hospital immediately sealed the surgery and investigated. It determined its error, contacted the boy's family, and met with the family and its lawyer. The hospital's representative admitted its error, and they reached a settlement in one evening of discussion. No protracted negotiations. No lawsuit.
Why do I think of that at this time?
The HOA had - I write, HAD - a good relationship with Brookland Baptist Church Northeast. The monthly Board meetings were held in a meeting room of the Church. Anyone who ever attended a meeting knows how they were conducted.
The last meeting I attended was February 4, 2025. Later a resident (homeowner) described that meeting to me as "chaotic". And it had been.
In September Board President Danny Trapp sent a letter to the Church. That letter resulted in three homeowners (HOA Members) and one resident being sent a Trespass Notice by the Church and banned from Church property.
Did the HOA's Board approve that letter by Danny? Did the Board authorize Danny to send that letter? What did Danny's letter say?
The September and October Summit Scoops reported that the November Board meeting would be held at the Church on November 11.
As of October 17 the BOD meeting was not on the Church's calendar.
The Association will now hold two of its most-important meetings of the year on November 18th at the North Springs Park Community Center.
- the Annual Meeting of Voting Members (election of four directors; and
- the annual meeting of the Board, at which officers for 2025-2026 should be elected.
Will the Board give any reason for losing its meeting place at the Church?
