HOA Election Time is right around the corner

The next two HOA Board meetings will be October 3 and November 14, according to the September Summit Scoop, published today (9/6/2023). Both will be held at Brookland Baptist Church NE. However, watch for the Board to spring a Zoom meeting on you, where you will not be able to attend, as they did on September 5.

By hiding away behind Zoom, you will not be able to find out what is going on; for example, with the election cycle. Four directors are to be elected this year (Nov. 14, 2023). The board ignores the fact that there have been five director seats for the two-year period 2021-2023.

This announcement appears in the September Summit Scoop:

Applicants for the Board

"Elections for new members for the Board of Directors will be taking place in November. If you want to become more involved in the life of the Summit, please consider running for the board. There are four seats up for election this year.

"Applications are available at the Association office or at www.summithomeowners.com. Applications should be submitted to the Association office no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, October 6th."

The terms of Justin Martin, Greg Thomas, Mary Ann Game, and Brenda Bryant expire this year.

Was Justin the instigator of closing Board meetings and banning homeowners? This would be a good time to eliminate him from the Board. Greg, Mary Ann, and Brenda seldom contribute anything at board meetings.

Here are some places to look forr information about running for the board.

SCA Procedures Reference Manual (PRM)

Art. II, B, §2

(See also (Art. II, A, 4) a.) about the appointment annually of the Nominating Committee. This never happens.)

Art. III, H. Nominating Committee Procedures (Page 22)
Look at the sections here for information how to make it through and past the Nominating Committee onto the ballot. Anticipate that the Nominating Committee will favor the incumbents and try hard to eliminate competent challengers. Decide how you will succeed and be on the ballot. Or win as a Write-In.

Art IV. A. Board of Director's Biographic [sic] Form / Application (Page 33)

If you are going to run for the Board, now is the time to start campaigning and lobbying the Voting Members*. Remember - they are the voters.

Four Directors are to be elected in November 2023. Recall that Justin and the Board allowed the election of five (5) directors in 2021, contrary to the By-Laws. By doing so, they created a board of eight Director positions, including the undeclared, vacant seat of the late George Reynolds (Term: 2020-2022).

That was an example of Justin's "leadership" as Board President.

* The Board has yet to address the legal problem of no legitimate Voting Members. How can you hold an election, if there are no qualified electors (Voting Members)?
