Neighborhood Committee blinks at June Board Meeting

The following was published on the new Facebook group page for the Summit's HOA. The Facebook group is an unofficial HOA group, because the Board would not get behind the idea of such a group for the 2,480 properties and the 6,-8,000 people living in The Summit.

"Mr. Reginald- neighborhood: there continues to be a few neighborhood representative positions open; he asked the Board if he can meet by himself with them to go over some questions the neighborhood representatives had (he compiled them but won’t ask all of them because some seemed like they were targeting Board members or were more specific for when new Board applicants are being voted on). The Board agreed."

So let's dissect this report.

"Mr. Reginald" - that would be Reginald Mack, who is "recognized" as the Voting Member for Summit Hills IV. Is he a bonafide, legitimate, duly-elected Voting Member? When was the last Neighborhood Meeting in Summit Hills IV? For sure, he won't tell me if I ask him.

Perhaps a Summit Hills IV reader (or someone else with the knowledge) will post that date in the Comments.

There are four "open" Voting Member spots: Autumn Glen (49), Indigo Springs (141), Pineclave (33), and Waverly Place (264). The 487 homes (19.6% of the HOA) in these four Neighborhoods have NO representation in the HOA.

Why wouldn't Reginald say what he had to say in front of the Voting Members and Committee chairmen who were present???

It's perfectly clear when the Board should vote on the candidates to succeed Ciara and LaToya. The Board should vote on July 1st at the Regular Board Meeting, right after they excuse (dismiss, remove) Patricia Pollin from the Board.

That will leave the board with four directors and make it more likely that new board members will be neutral and come in with no agenda. Otherwise, a vote for a candidate who is likely to be one-sided and biased will be 2-2; a tie-vote fails.

Reginald ought to know that's how it should be done, and that's what he should have told the Board on June 3rd, in front of everyone.

But nobody will be surprised if the Board votes at the closed, private, secret, pre-board meeting on June 24th and then declares who the two new members are on July 1.

What did Reginald mean when he said, as the note summarizer said, that "some seemed like they were targeting Board members"? Was Danny among the targets? He's a big boy; let him hear what people are saying about him.

I have been particularly critical of the Neighborhood Committee of the HOA (as opposed to the (local) Neighborhood Committee of each of the 28 neighborhoods of The Summit)

The HOA's Neighborhood Committee is supposed to be helping the 28 Neighborhoods to organize Annual Neighborhood Meetings at which three homeowners would be elected to a Neighborhood Committee, which would then elect one of the three as the Voting Member. All three serve one year.

Only one Neighborhood - Barony Place - has complied with the By-Laws. It is the only neighborhood out of 28 that has a legitimate Voting Member.
