Location Change - Just As I Thought
When I read the email from the office last week that the meeting location for tonight's Board Meeting was being changed, I immediately wondered, "Why?"
The email, sent last Friday at 3:29PM (shortly before the office closed for the week-end) read, in part, "Due to Brookland Baptist Church being unavailable to accommodate the scheduled Board of Directors meeting on June 3rd, the meeting will now be held at the Summit Association office."
The email did not explain "why". What is the reason?
Tonight is sign-up night for Brookland Baptist Church Northeast's VBS.
Tonight's registration and conflict with the HOA meeting was no surprise to the Church. VBS regostration had to be in the works for months! When did the HOA first become aware of the conflict? More than a month ago? Longer?
Why did the HOA wait until the last minute (May 30) to announce the location change and the severe restriction on attendance? There was plenty of time to find an alternate location that would accommodate 50-60-100 people.
The HOA apparently failed to inform RCSD Capt. Karen Gilman, because she was at the Church at 6:25PM and was re-directed to the HOA office by a private security officer.
It's obvious that re-scheduling the Board meeting to the small conference room at the office would mean the homeowners would not be able to attend. Was that part of the plan?
In July 2024 and July 2023 there was no Board Meeting. There is a board meeting on the HOA Calendar for July 1st. If the Board cancels the July 1st Board Meeting, that will mean 90 days between board meetings that homeowners can attend. Will the Board cancel or change it? There are important issues requiring Board action without delay.
