Three Vacancies Should Be Declared on 6/3/2025
Three vacancies on the Board of Directors of The Summit's HOA should be declared at the June 3, 2025 Board meeting.
The HOA has announced that the Board meeting will be held in the small conference room at the HOA office, 305 Ridge Trail Road. Only board members, committee chairs, and Voting Members will be admitted. Alternates cannot attend. Other homeowners will not be allowed to attend.
Two directors resigned in May. Ciara Bates resigned and LaToya Adams resigned.
A third vacancy on the Board should be announced, because the seat has been held since December 2023 by a person who is not qualified to be a director, under the By-Laws.
The By-Laws of the HOA are specific about who can be a director. Art. III, §A, ¶1 reads, in part,
"...the directors shall be Members or spouses of such Members..."
There is supposed to be a vetting process for candidates for election or appointment to the Board.
The PRM (Art. III, §H, ¶6 (Page 23)) reads, in part,
"The Association office verifies that each potential candidate is in good standing with the Association and is a resident of the Association before accepting the application."
The requirement in the By-Laws that a director must be a Member or spouse of a Member supersedes the requirement in the PRM that a candidate must be a resident of the Association.
