Why Does the HOA have Two Law Firms?

At the Board Meeting on May 7, 2024 the Treasurer made a Motion "to hire Turner Padget firm [sic] as our new attorney." I suspect she meant "retain", not hire. The vote was 7-0. Rumor at the time was that Danny Trapp had found the new firm.

Unfortunately, the Board did not part ways with the law firm that had been handling business for the HOA, McCabe, Trotter & Beverly, P.C. for many years.

McCabe, Trotter is still handling some of the HOA business, such as collections. How do I know that?

In the letter accompanying your July 1, 2025 dues notice, a bold-print notice at the bottom of the letter advises delinquent homeowners to contact McCabe, Trotter, not Turner Padget.

The Board has never explained this to the Members. Was the original plan to shift all legal business to Turner Padget? Was there a problem getting out of the deal with McCabe, Trotter? How many board members at the time were involved in the analysis of moving business from one law firm to another?

I recall a question to the Board at the time about the fee structure of the new firm. No one knew the answer. One board member said that Turner Padget had lawyers who do everything.

Sure, but at what cost?
