New Money Spent? No money?
At the June 3 Board Meeting, in the absence of a Treasurer, motions to spend money were by Brenda Bryant, Board member.
A question that is never asked before these Motions are voted on is, Where will the money come from for this?
$12,545 Replace 13 light fixtures and globes;
$ 745 Repair two lights at Birch Park;
$18,095 Repair two pumps at Magnolia Pool;
$ 3,890 Dredge corner of Hunters Pond;
$ 1,100 Founders pump maintenance;
$36,365 Replace Hunters Pond pump;
$ 450 Remove dead tree.
$73,190
When it's OPM, it's easy to spend it. There is no pain in raising your own right hand, when it's not your money.
What's a "light fixture"? Is that a pole?
Is the cost for the "light fixtures" and pumps coming out of Reserves?
If you have been paying attention (and you haven't), the annual con6tribution to Reserves since 2020 ($163,9965) has been shrinking. In 2024 NOTHING went into Reserves. In 2025 only $3,000 is earmarked for Reserves. The CC&Rs (Art. X, §6 (Page 17)) read, in part, "The Board shall set the required capital contribution..."
Fiduciary Responsibility for the finances of the HOA has flown the coop. The day of reckoning is fast approaching, and there will be a need for a Special Assessment or significant increase in Annual Assessment.
There aren't enough legitimate, duly-elected Voting Members to approve a Special Assessment or an increase of more than 10% in Annual Assessment. The Board has not been doing a favor to Members by not increasing the dues every year. What will the HOA do for money?
